The montpellier maple is widespread. It is found in western Asia, north-western Africa, southeastern France and the Mediterranean, but also in the warm Rhine-Main area.
Tree profile
The leaf is three lobed, dark green and has a reddish petiole, which is longer than the leaf. The leaf margin is smooth and the leaf arrangement is opposite.
The yellow flower panicles are numerous and appear with the leaf shoots.
Schizocarp: winged nutlets with two seeds. The arrangement of the wings is an acute angle.
