The leaves of Striped maple are lobed with 3 pointed lobes. The leaves are 8 - 15 cm (3.2 - 5.9 in) long and 6 - 12 cm (2.4 - 4.7 in) broad. The leaf margin is serrated.
The single flower is yellowish - greenish and bell-shaped. More flowers are hanging down on a strand. Leaf and flower sprout simultaneously.
The fruit is a samara with two winged nutlets. The samara are arranged in pairs. The angle of the wings is about 145 degrees.
The branches are reddish. The terminal buds are red and taper to a point.
