The American snowbell is a small tree, which comes from the southeastern United States. A beautiful garden tree with abundant blooms which exude a pleasant fragrance.

The leaves of American snowbell are deciduous, oval to obovate, 3 – 6 cm (1.2 – 2.4 in) long, the leaf veins are protruding. The leaf margin is serrated.
The flowers are white and hang in bunches (1-4 flowers per inflorescence). The stems of the bunches are 2.5 to 10 cm (1.0 – 3.9 in) long.
Die Steinfrüchte sind etwa 6 mm im Durchmesser und kugelförmig. Die Frucht ist reif im September / Oktober.
The branches are gray-brown and slightly zigzag. The buds are very small and brown.
