The leaves of Indian bean tree are heart-shaped, very large (up to 20 cm (7,9 in)) long, long-stalked, fresh green, and tomentose. The Indian bean tree sprouts late. The leaf margin is smooth.
The flowers stand in panicles and are 15 - 20 cm (5.9 - 7.9 in) long.
Slim brown fruit capsules (pods) up to 35 cm (13.8 in) long.
The branches are light brown. The branches are susceptible to wind damage.
