Goat Moth (Cossus cossus)

The goat moths lay their eggs in the furrows of the bark of trees. The moth preferred trees that stand near water. Popular trees are willow, alder, birch, apple, pear, poplar and some more. The hatched caterpillars eat their way through the woods. If the infestation is not too strong, it is not a problem for the tree.
