From the eucalyptus trees there are over 600 species. Native of the trees belonging to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), in Australia and Indonesia. Some eucalyptus trees are cultivated but also on the American Pacific coast, in southern Europe and Africa.
The trees grow quickly and are as a rule evergreen. Some species are hardy and tolerate temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius and grow to over 800 meters yet.
